Lot 536 - Punch Double Coronas Specially Selected in Havana for Davidoff & Cie.

Dark wrappers and excellent condition and appearance. A rare cabinet and a first time appearance at the auction. We believe it was common practice for some cigar factories depending who their client was as in this instance Davidoff & Cie., Geneva was to add an additional two or three sticks to some fortunate cabinets of 50 during the packing and boxing stage. There may have been a handful of cigars with different outer wrapper colour shade that could not make a complete cabinet and were unable to be packed with other cigar cabinets due to the differences in wrapper colour shade. Thus, these cigars were added to cabinets with matching outer wrapper colour shade like in this instance, subject to surplus availability on the day of packing and boxing. Furthermore, these cigars were hand selected specially for Davidoff to meet their criteria, to desire only the very best cigars from their cigar factory supplier at the time. Hence, the cabinet is stamped 'Specially Selected in Havana for Davidoff & Cie., Geneva' to warrant their criteria for excellence had been achieved.
