Lot 438 - La Ranessa Royal Coronas

Auction Ended: Wednesday 17 December, 2025

Winning Bid: £1,680.00

Estimate: £500 - £700
Very good condition for its age. Some cigars with minor wrapper damage. La Ranessa was a rebrand of cigars known previously as Chirona, notably advertised as being supplied to the House of Lords. These vintage items are associated with the tobacco trade from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. La Ranessa rebranded through a slow transition during the late 19th Century to the early 20th century from Chirona to La Ranessa by incorporating and introducing the new name La Ranessa to their old brand Chirona boxes. It was not until the early 20th century was Chirona dropped entirely to the new rebrand La Ranessa "La Ranessa" cigars (correctly spelled La Ranesa) seems to be closely linked to the historic Por Larranaga, Cuban brand, established in 1834 once hailed the most respected brand in Cuba. We believe this box is from the early 20th century during the transition of Chirona to La Renessa, and most probably using Por Larranaga tobacco, due to their historic link.
