Good condition. Originally founded in Havana, the brand was re-registered in 1940 by English importers Nathan Silverstone and Michael De Keyser for the British market. Its name may reference Thornton Wilder's 1927 novel The Bridge of San Luis Rey. From shortly after its founding, Saint Luis Rey was intended exclusively for UK import and distribution. Between 1960 and 1992, the brand was marketed solely in the UK through N.R. Silverstone Cigar Ltd.
